Why choose Bide Highland?
Family carers deserve time and opportunities to recharge in order to keep caring for their loved ones. Popping out for a coffee with friends, getting away for a night or two, picking up a hobby - all of these can help you maintain a life outside of caring, and help you feel refreshed and ready to take on another day.
Traditional respite is an excellent choice for many families, but isn’t always available when you need it. Plus, there aren’t many options for ‘just an hour’s cover here and there’. Unexpected events such as a funeral, or your own hospital appointment can cause extra stress as you scramble to find replacement care for your loved one.
I’ve seen firsthand the need for quality, responsive, compassionate support in Highland.
Bide Highland offers an option for those who feel their loved one would benefit from remaining in the comfort and familiarity of their own home, supported by one trusted carer.
Meet the Team
I’m Julie, the face behind Bide Highland. It’s a team of one at present! I live in Inverness with my dog and two cats. I love exploring new places on foot and spending time in the hills, but I’m equally content spending a day at home with my knitting. As for work, I studied linguistics and French at university, and started working in a care home as a student. I loved it, especially working with people living with dementia and undertook a Masters in Dementia Studies. Delivering training has been a big part of my work life too. I’ve spent the last few years working for local and national charities helping unpaid carers. I’m insured, have a PVG and up to date First Aid certificate.
